Gianna married Pietro Molla in 1955, and together they welcomed three children: Pierluigi, Maria Zita, and Laura. On April 28, 1962, during her fourth pregnancy, Gianna faced a critical decision. Doctors discovered that she had a tumor, which posed a serious risk to both her and her unborn child. Despite the medical advice to terminate the pregnancy, Gianna chose to carry her child to term, demonstrating her profound love and faith. Tragically, she passed away just a week after giving birth to her daughter, Gianna Emanuela, on April 28, 1962. Her selfless act of love has inspired countless individuals and families. Saint Gianna Beretta Molla was canonized by Pope John Paul II on May 16, 2004, and her feast day is celebrated on April 28.
