She dedicated her life to serving the poor and was a key figure in the political and spiritual landscape of her time, advocating for peace and reform within the Church. Her canonization took place in 1461, solidifying her legacy as a saint. Her feast day is celebrated on April 29. Catherine was also instrumental in bringing the papacy back to Rome from Avignon, showcasing her influence and determination. She emphasized the importance of love and humility in her writings, often saying, ‘All the way to Heaven is Heaven.’

Throughout her life, Catherine demonstrated profound virtues such as compassion, courage, and strength. She became a member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic, dedicating herself to a life of prayer and service. Despite facing numerous challenges, including opposition from political leaders, she remained steadfast in her mission. Her letters, which address various aspects of faith and morality, continue to be studied and revered. In her later years, Catherine spent time in Rome, where she died on April 29, 1380. Her tomb is located in the Basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, a site of pilgrimage for many devotees today.
