About Saint Brigid of Ireland
Saint Brigid of Kildare was born around 451 and is recognized as one of Ireland’s three national saints, alongside Patrick and Columba. She was the daughter of an Irish clan chief and a Christian enslaved woman, which shaped her compassionate spirit and dedication to service. Brigid was fostered in a druid’s household, where she absorbed knowledge and spirituality before becoming a consecrated virgin and founding the remarkable abbey of Kildare (Cill Dara). Brigid is celebrated for her nurturing nature, exemplifying the virtues of poetry, learning, healing, and protection.
